Tour Series Triumph.

The Pearl iZUMi Tour Series got off to a flying start in Kirkcaldy On Tuesday, but it wasn’t only the professional that got to race round the track. The track was open for use to schools, community members and amateur clubs during the day. Make your move Kirkcaldy organised for 3 Kirkcaldy primary schools to be led down to the track and have a go themselves. Around 30 staff, parents and pupils from Pathhead, St Maries and Torbain primary’s were helped by a band of Make your move Kirkcaldy staff and volunteers to cycle 5 laps of the 1.5km track used by the professionals for the race later that night.

The track was also open to the general public for 30mins in the afternoon where the Make you move Kirkcaldy staff took advantage of the opportunity to promote the project, as you can see Greg our I Bike Officer really went for it!!!

Throughout the day the Make your move Kirkcaldy team were hard at work promoting the project to the local residents.  We set up a stall on the High Street which had information about the project, a chance to speak to staff and opportunities get involved with future activities.  We also gave away lots of maps and cycling goodies including bells and bandanas. There were plenty of other stalls and entertainment on the High Street free for everyone to enjoy.

The day was a great success and everyone appeared to be having a good time.  The weather stayed dry for the majority of the day which was a real bonus and that helped the race attract a large crowd.

Thanks to everyone who participated, came for a chat and helped at the event.  Anyone who could not make it down or would like more information please do contact us. If you’re feeling inspired to get out by bike, check out our cycling page for more information on what we have going on in and around Kirkcaldy, including information on how to get your hands on a bike if you’ve not got one.
