The project has worked for the past 4 years to improve the infrastructure in and around Kirkcaldy, creating a traffic free loop around the town. This has involved upgrading existing shared use paths, increasing the amount of shared use paths and creating on road cycling lanes. There has also been the re-routing of the NCN 766 so it follows a quieter traffic route.
In addition, MYMK has put in 10 toucan crossings to help safer crossing for pedestrians and cyclists. In total, we have upgraded and created over 12 km of cycle ways in Kirkcaldy. Fife Council’s introduction of 20mph speed limits within all residential areas of the town has also made it a much safer place for cyclist and walkers.
