Bike Week!

Make your move Kirkcaldy kicked off Bike Week 2012 with a visit from Bikeworks to run a bike sale in Templehall on Saturday 16th June. Despite the rain we had a steady stream of customers and a good number of newly purchased bikes now being pedalled around the town.

The bike sale was followed up with a CycleStart ride on Sunday morning - again the weather wasn't great but the volunteer ride leaders were delighted to see some keen cyclists turning up and enjoying a few miles exploring the cycle paths and quiet roads in the north of the town.

Still to come - two more CycleStart rides this week, on Thursday evening and Sunday morning - both meeting at Dunnikier Park by the football pitches.

And the big event of the week - the Make your move Kirkcaldy Fun Day at the Town Square, from 10am-4pm on Saturday 23rd June. You can try out different kinds of bikes on the square, including tandems, trailer bikes, BMXs and bikes for all ages. There will also be a Dr Bike service - free check ups and minor repairs for your bike with our expert mechanic from Dave's Bike Shed. Not to mention one-wheeled stunts with Voodoo Unicycles.

There will be competitions to find out how fast you can cycle, how slow you can cycle, and how much you know about Kirkcaldy - as well as a chance to find out more about places to cycle and walk in the area as well as cycle training, CycleStart rides and lots more.
